Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) can be transmitted orally, anally, vaginally, as well as through skin to skin contact. The best way to avoid infection with a sexually transmitted disease is to practice sexual abstinence. This means you don't have any sexual contact including oral sex.

If you are at risk of having contracted an STD, we can refer you to a local physician for testing at no cost to you after an appointment at the Center.

A few of the infections or diseases you may contract during a sexual encounter:

• Chlamydia
• Gonorrhea
• Herpes
• HIV
• Human Papillomavirus (genital warts)
• Syphilis

Refuge of Hope offers abstinence presentations to local schools.
